Crompton Launches Anti-Bac LED Bulb With Envirosafe Technology

The new and futuristic approach to healthy homes & work spaces

Time and health are two precious assets that we don’t recognise and appreciate until they have been depleted” –Denis Waitley

How many of you can nod in affirmation to this saying? Some of us recognise this early enough and form a preventative care strategy, while few of us wait till the last minute to mend an already dilapidated condition. No matter which category you fall in, here’s a call to action by one of the leading brands of the world, and it’s time we all buck up! Crompton has developed an extremely futuristic approach to healthy spaces, which will require minimal post installation follow up. In fact, you can just plug it in and relax as the hygiene standards of your home increase exponentially.

What is Crompton’s New Launch About?

Crompton is a pioneer in the industry within the LED segment and has launched the first of its kind, breakthrough innovation of the Anti-Bac LED Bulb with advanced Envirosafe technology that provides the dual benefits of delivering visible light and also killing up to 85% germs within its surroundings. The best part is that this has been recommended by the Indian Medical Association.

Who is Endorsing Crompton’s Anti-Bac LED?

We saw Soha Ali Khan endorse the concept and stand by it. Here is what she had to say : , “Being a mother myself, I have always tried to establish a qualitative and secure environment for my family. While I spend a considerable time outdoors, there is an equal amount of time that I tend to spend indoors. It is proven science that germs are present in every nook and corner of the house and I, as a mom, do my best to figure out methods to be germ-free and create a clean space for my daughter. Given that we are exposed to a lot of household and ambient germs indoors itself in today’s day and age, we now have an LED bulb that actually kills germs! I am fortunate enough to experience an innovation that is so beneficial to me as a consumer, as a parent and at the same time so very convenient for my home”

Why Crompton Anti-Bac LED for my home?

As already discussed, I believe in the prevention is better than cure ideology and have always been on an intensive search to give my 2 young children the best atmosphere to grow up and bloom in. Apart from basic home cleaning aids and the extra care that I take in providing a sterile environment at home, i often felt that there ought to be something extra to safeguard my children. I’ve always been a little fastidious when it comes to germs and bacteria and when I discovered Crompton’s Anti-Bac LED, Ijust couldn’t wait to try it out. As per the testing done by external NABL accredited Labs, this Anti-Bac LED bulb that uses Envirosafe Technology is capable of killing upto 85% germs. It has proven efficacy in killing Aspergillus niger, Bacillus cerus, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aurus, yeast, moldsand other wide spectrum of harmful germs and bacteria.

Here are my reasons why for you should try it out for your homes & workspaces:

1) Has been scientifically proven to kill 85% of germs and has been recommended by Indian Medical Association.

2) Has a very ergonomic and stylish design.

3) Has special blue LED lights within the bulb, that kill germs & bacteria but emits no harmful UV/ IR radiations, making it safe for human beings as well as pets.

4) Easy to install.

5) Power Efficient as it’s at 7W & 9W only along with longer life as compared to others.

6) Extremely Affordable by being priced at Rs.180/- for 7W & Rs.190/- for 9W (you can find them at a discount on the Crompton website) which is only 20% more than an average LED Bulb, with no benefits.

It is therefore the perfect companion for you and your kids, in bedrooms, playrooms and study rooms.

How has Crompton’s Anti-Bac LED changed my perspective?

To be really honest, I didn’t quite understand howinstalling a normal light would kill 85% of the germs but when I read my share of literature and saw proof, I was definitely convinced. I, then realised how light has always been a part of medicinal therapy from laser treatments to x-rays. In fact, it’s a well-known fact that newborns are put under phototherapy when affected by jaundice.

All of these examples use a part of light that has been procured at a certain wavelength and using that same phenomenon, Crompton has developed their Anti-Bac LED’s where the light emitted is at awavelength of 400nm to 420nm which is safe and has Microbial disinfection properties. Anti-Bac LED Bulb emits light in this range, which kills bacteria overtime.

Let me bid adieu with a snippet from Mr. Mathew Job, CEO, CGEL:

Having launched revolutionary products like the Anti-Dust fan range and the Tricool Window cooler, we are elated to be the first company to create a new category within the lighting segment with the launch of Anti-Bac LED bulb and growing the range that fulfils the brand promise of making home a great place to hangout.”

The future is here and it is starting with such innovations that will change the way we perceive safety and hygiene. In the same way, we emphasisethe use of hand sanitisers, frequent floor cleaning, dusting crevices and nooks of our homes, we also need to emphasise the switch to Crompton’s Anti-Bac LED, to keep our home and workspaces healthier & safer.

Lipa Land App Experience.

“ If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.” – Ignacio Estrada.

In today’s world, a chunk of our time goes into trying to mould our children into the cast of genius children. While, it definitely isn’t wrong to expect your child to excel and help him/her in this intellectual journey, it definitely is wrong in persuading them to take up things that their heart isn’t into. What this does is produce children with low self esteem and a sense of low self worth, children who have shorter attention spans and children who immediately are unsure about how to face their peers and friends. Irrespective of how cliché it might sound, the fact remains that a home is the sanctuary where a child can be himself and explore their potential with the help of  their caregivers.

As a mother, my concern is always about trying to get my children engrossed in an academically rich fruitful activity that can benefit my children in more than one way. I want them to love what they learn and implement it in the real world. To make this happen, I’m often browsing the web for an answer. Maybe some downloadable sheets will do the trick or maybe some D.I.Y. Project? Maybe, an educational app will let them learn the fun way or maybe some child learning based website?

The options are many but solutions are quite complex. Sometimes, I’m using 2 websites, 1 educational app and some DIY project to help my children understand a certain concept, which gets the job done  but undoubtedly scatters my work and frustrates me, as I’m working too hard to get the best experience for my children.. And, in that pursuit of a fun filled fulfilling  educational experience, I chanced upon “ Lipa Land”.

What Is Lipa Land ?

Lipa Land, is a fun learning app for kids aged 3-6 that turns screen time into real life adventures.

I, have two young boys aged 2.5 and 6. We downloaded this app just a few weeks ago and decided to figure out what it was all about. Lipa Land, from the first look completely had my children excited to use it. Usually, my boys are super picky with their apps and within the first 2 days, the results are out about whether they like it or not. Surprisingly, a few weeks down the lane, my boys are still using it. Here are the app features we just loved :

• Extremely High Quality User Interface For Children.

• Soothing Colour Scheme That Runs Across The App.

• Easy To Navigate For Little Fingers.

• Cartoon Based Characters With High Cuteness Quotient.

• Happy Background Scores In Games & While On Standby As Well.

• Cheerful Motivation Given While Conquering A Milestone.

• Rewards.

• An Exhaustive List of Soothing Lullabies & Calming Sounds Like Pink Noise, Brown Noise, etc., To Help Children Relax.

• Unique Stories Which Parents Can Be A Part Of By Reading It Out Loud For Young Children Or Supervise Older Children While Doing So.

• Popular Activity Ideas Which Encourage Children And Parents To Spend Time Together Doing The Same.

Since my kids were so much into Lipa Land, I wanted to learn more about the benefits it brings to my kids. I found out that the app helps children develop in several key areas:

• Physical Wellness

• Social Skills like language

• Academic Goals

• Healthy Lifestyle

• Environmental Sensitivity

• Autonomic Capabilities

• Logical Reasoning

Lipa Land, helps your child to establish the following skills while playing on it and as quoted by team Lipa Land it helps you “use the device to get out of the device” and explore the world around us.

Unlike other apps, Lipa Land has a range of useful content with:

1. Games

2. Stories

3. Relaxing Sounds

4. DIY Project Ideas

Games : One of the biggest USPs of the games in Lipa Land is that they are adaptive, which means that the difficulty level adapts to the child’s ability. Along with that, the games are innovative and have the essence of social skill building and logical reasoning. These games are targeted to accentuate the intellectual capabilities of a child, thereby helping them in grasping concepts easily. These games also help in eye hand coordination and develop gross motor skills in a child. These games are one of the best ways to make sure that you are headed in the right direction with early learning and making your child preschool ready. They have 3 levels in them, i.e., Easy, Medium & Hard.

Stories : Now you don’t need another individual app to read stories as it comes along with Lipa Land. These stories are very enjoyable and ignite the imagination of young ones with their pictorial descriptions. So, now you and your little one can bond over Story time with Lipa Land.

Relaxing Sounds & Lullabies  : This is something that has me hooked as both my children are used to White Noise playing in the background while they sleep and trust me, I still sleep only to the erratic notes of White Noise. My joy knew no bounds, when I saw a section dedicated to relaxing sounds  and I honestly think that this is the most thoughtful thing to do. Not always can I carry my White Noise CD with me and not every time do I want to switch on YouTube and waste my time trying to find the perfect quality of Relaxing Sounds. Lipa Land, now helps me carry this treasure everywhere and the quality is par excellence.

DIY Project Ideas : What a wonderful way to have all DIY projects under your fingertips, without having to key in search words and waste your time figuring out if you like it or not. Lipa Land, comes with a wide variety of DIY Project Ideas, that you and your little one will definitely enjoy.

Lastly, they have a reward system for the children as well, which helps the little ones to try and unlock them by piquing their curiosity and requiring them to finish their tasks. The Rewards are free books & games that the children may unlock to enhance their experience and thereby never getting bored.

Lipa Land, also has a unique pictorial representation of skills that a child will be learning while playing a certain activity and this can be monitored by their progress chart. This feature also helps you as a parent decide what skills you would like the little one to work on.

Along with all of these features, Lipa Land also doesn’t fail to astonish you by being completely Ad-free and kidSAFE certified. This means that your child is really safe and unharmed by the dangers of the internet even if you aren’t around to supervise.

—————

Verdict : Lipa Land, comes across as one of the most sensitive and technologically advanced applications for children and is aimed at early learning which makes children, preschool ready. If your child is a preschooler, then Lipa Land will aid him/her in understanding concepts the fun way simultaneously with what is being taught at school.

Lipa Land, is definitely a learning aid for all young children and will help them get a head start academically and emotionally as well.

I, would suggest you to try out their no conditions 14 Days Free Trial here and give it a go. You really have nothing to lose albeit this free trial might just change the way you look at early education apps.

How to Beat Little Blocked Noses.

“A new baby is like a beginning of all things- wonder, hope & a dream of possibilities”- Eda J Leshan

Along with that little bundle of joy, there comes an emotion that’s cognitive to a mother, the minute the baby is born. A mother makes a promise to her young one, she whispers into the baby’s ear that i will love you and take care of you forever.

It’s just so satisfying to see your little one, always smile and stay healthy. The minute your baby gets under the weather, you start panicking more than the baby himself. As parents, we all know that our young ones will catch the nasty cold at least 5-6 times a year, yet we aren’t prepared for it when it happens. We run helter skelter and forget that this doesn’t mean that you did something wrong but it’s just nature’s way of developing your baby’s immunity.

Babies are obligatory nose breathers, so the cold virus brings along with it, runny noses, blocked noses and a plethora of crankiness and sleep deprivation for both the baby and you. I have 2 young boys aged 5 years and 1.6 months and every time they catch the cold and have blocked noses, i’m mentally disturbed but always resort to using Nasivion® nasal spray and nasal drops for their little noses under my paediatrician’s recommendation.

I, have been using Nasivion® for my little ones, to help them recover from their colds gradually and peacefully. They tend to sleep better and instead of getting up 4-5 times in the night, they get up about 1-2 times.

Dosage of Nasivion® Nasal Saline Solution:

Instil 2-3 drops / sprays in each nostril 3-4 times daily or as directed by the Physician.

Dosage of Nasivion® Paediatric 0.025% Nose Drops for children from 1-6 years:

1-2 drops in each nostril, 2- 3 times a day or as directed by the paediatrician.

Dosage of Nasivion® ( Mini ) 0.01 % nasal drops for infants up to 1 year:

Up to the age of 4 weeks, instill 1 drop of the solution into each nostril 2-3 times per day. From the 5th week of life until the age of 1 year, instill 1-2 drops into each nostril 2-3 times per day or as directed by the physician.

——————————————————

Points to keep in mind which help your little one recover faster from a blocked nose:

.If your baby is under 2 years, they will have a problem blowing their noses. I, use the Nasivion® Nasal Saline Solution** or a homemade saline using one cup boiled water & 1/2 tsp iodine free salt to cleanse the nose coupled with a nasal aspirator.

.Elevate your baby’s head while sleeping.

.Give them as much liquids as possible like turmeric infused milk, warm water and warm soups, depending on their ages.

.Use a Air humidifier and if you don’t have one, keep potted plants & bowls of warm water in the baby’s room.

.Massage your baby’s chest with some warm coconut oil while lightly tapping on his chest and back, to dislodge the mucus.

.Run a hot water bath, for the baby. The steam loosens the mucus in the nose.

.Last but not the least, coo & cuddle to your baby no matter what his age may be, because the emotional love what they feel helps them recover faster.

Check this out dear mums :

Skola Toys| Bloggers Meet | Vivanta by Taj | Bangalore |

“Play is the highest form of research”- Albert Einstein

Standing by that very protocol, “Skola Toys” has integrated learning through playing in their toys. I was, privileged to be a part of the bloggers meet, that was held in “Vivanta by Taj” for all of us to understand the depth of thinking that was incorporated in the toys.

About Skola Toys :

Skola Toys is India’s first range of toys designed with learning at its core. Made for children between 2 years & 7 years, Skola Toys’ design principles have been scientifically backed by child psychologists, child experts & educationists including Montessori teachers. Founded by Mridula Shridhar, VK Manikandan & Nitish Agrawal, Skola Toys was set up to fill the void that existed in the Early Learning & Learning Toy category for intelligently designed toys. Skola Toys help children pick up crucial skills in areas like Gross Motor, Fine Motor, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, Social Science, Science, Cognition & Creativity.

What Material are the Skola Toys Made Up Of?

Skola Toys, are pure wooden toys which encourage children to play more. Children very easily differentiate between low quality & high quality material. They are also very attuned to accepting natural materials, like Jute, Wood, Stone, Clay, etc. Therefore, Skola Toys are natural and much appreciated by kids.

About Skola Toys Bloggers Meet :

We were seated in our respective places, with anticipation of what innovative strategies would be unfolding for us as parents to experience. The Meet had Parent Bloggers, Toy shop owners & School teachers congregate for the interactive session.

The topic of discussion was ” Touch vs. Touch & Feel” As we all know, technology has us in the deep throes of its clutches. We are in one way or the other reliant on it, for our lives to function. In this reliance, we also expose our young ones to it, thereby creating a generation of “techno geeks” and take for granted the cognitive functions of seeing, feeling & deciding for granted.

So, we were given little tasks, which had us engaged for sometime. Something as simple as “feeling the alphabets blindfolded and deciding which one it was”, “putting up a puzzle”, etc and boy! was it fun. The exercises that we did were a way, for us to realise how much more fun a physical activity is as compared to a “tap tap tap” activity.

Verdict : All in all, a very informative meet, by which it’s clear to me that, children don’t only need technology to help them grow and bloom their innate skills, but also the need of smart toys which help their skill set.

Where Have I Been?

I, honestly need some of my good ole advisory panel aka blogger buddies to rattle my rusted brains into turning the cogs right back on.

Where have I been? If anyone really ever noticed me missing off the blogging world from the past 10 whooping months, then I’d like to say I really wasn’t doing anything significant.

Well, nothing significantly great except baking another baby in the oven. Yup!! There i said it.

“Surprise everybody” shouts me.

Yes.. You read that right.. I just popped another life outta me. It was quite a surprise for us too. And boy… Do I love surprises 😏

Oh reminds me.. it’s a boy, btw!!

I was hoping it would be a girl, so that i could indulge in some sparkly Elsa-esque headbands & sequinned frocks.. Maybe some Ariel-esque green mermaid fins ( don’t get me wrong, I don’t wanna metamorph my human child to the mermaid kind, but who wouldn’t wanna be Ariel for a day? )

And here, i am still stuck with batman logo tees & hideous Spider-Man watches. 😂

Ergo, If you find any of your blogger buddies outta sight for a few months, rest assured that they aren’t dead, but just pregnant 🤰 And technically, the aftermath of being pregnant does actually equal to being dead. Much more zombie-ish, if you may?? So.. yeah.. you can think they are dead actually 😐

Now haven’t i been discreet 😎. *slaps my runny mascara face with a pancake*

I had to stay off the blog for more reasons than just this one. After a lot of self vituperation, I’ve gotten back on track. Vowing to never, ever and ever do the incognito move again.

But, these 10 months have been quite a rollercoaster ride. From finding out that I was expecting to travelling around and from working on a book to learning a few life skills like baking & relaxation techniques ( did you see how those two were just said in the same breath? )

Ok! Listen to this… I went offline from all forms of social media. No Facebook, no WhatsApp, no Twitter and no Instagram. Trust me, it was hard.. like hell yeah! But it’s been the most wisest decision I’ve taken. It just makes you realise, just how much you’ve stopped giving time to understanding your true self.

It was in these 10 months, that I realised what I really wanted and what I didn’t. Social media is great, don’t get me wrong.. I’m not in the Social media nazi league, but I do have to confess that by not being constantly on the social media, gave me a fairly good marker of my priorities. I mean, media puts you into a vicious cycle of “Wanting”.

I just had an epiphany of sorts and realised what I really wanted. 🤓🤓  *philosophical much?? I need to shut up*

So, here I am back on the “media”, back from the sabbatical, much calmer and discerning towards my laws of happiness.. and those are..

“Looney Ballooney.. I need the fishing 🎣 social media…I need to stop the b***sh***ing philosophy.. I ain’t no philanthropist, I love the vicious cycle.. Keeps you fuelling for more.. Nothing better than this for sure” 😆🤡

I’m just the same old noorain save for 10 months older, a little more ridiculous than before, more in love with my wanting to be in touch with y’all, much more in throes of literary passion (nothing like a satisfying post that you finish publishing) & with 2 kids..

Gosh!! That sounds quite snazzy eh?

My posts will rather lean more towards a delusional side, as I’ve got a newborn, who refuses to sleep when I want to..  Like right about now.. it’s 4 A.M and he has had 2 post midnight snacks till now.

Dude!! I don’t snack in my sleep.. who does that??🤤 And that leaves me with 2 hours to sleep before he wakes up again at 6:30 😥

So off I go.. Giving a big virtual hug to y’all.. 🤗

Looking forward to hearing from you guys!!

A Question Here!

Hey my WP fam! I’ve been so held up today, with just so many bat-shit crazy stuffs. I, had to complete drafting one of those erratically stupid legal documents. I,also had to finish atleast a page on a book, I’m working on. I, had to keep a track on my order that came in today & last but not the least, I, also had a tantrum filled kiddo to deal with today.

Apparently, the Dubliner Cheese got over & he cried his guts off when I bought him, “Colby”. He kept telling, ” This, disgusting cheese. Arham doesn’t want. I want Dubliner”

I, seriously could’ve whipped him right then & there into a mousse, but then I kept my calm & said, ” How would you like, a batch of French fries & ketchup?”

To which he, willingly obliged. And off, we went to grab a batch of fries.🍟🍟🍔🍟🍟

That put the brakes on his whining, but I felt guilty for advocating bad choices. You know, I kinda felt like, I’m being selfish. I mean, I must’ve done something else.. But what??

*smacks herself in the head with Gordon Ramsey’s turner & skims off the excess guilt with a skimmer*

Mommy’s get that much of Liberty,I’m sure. We could always alternate fries & twinkies with garden salads & oat porridges, if we’ve got a whiny kid* Right?? Please tell me a yes.

👍🏻 or 👎🏻?

I mean, how else do you calm them down, when you have so much to do?

Btw, with all the drama happening, I missed my masterclass with Chef Prabir at Sanctum. 😢😢

I’m calling it a day now!! Hopefully, tomorrow isn’t as hectic as today.

*this happens once in a while.

The enchanted world of Toddlers&their Talks- 6 signs.

Im pretty flummoxed with the things my toddler tells me. Sometimes,I’m gaping in horror & sometimes I’m just playing “Mommy”,acting like I understand every bit of useless & vital information he gives me. The “Terrible Two’s”,are terrible for the reason, that they terribly drain away every ounce, gram, millilitre, etc of your energy. It’s just been a few hours since you’re up,and you can already feel the weight of the day in your bones.

Those kids are everywhere. They are like little monsters, elves, gnomes, leprechauns,goblins.. You get it! They just are everywhere. Let me tell you a secret, they also possess the power of ” TeleKinesis” and “TelePortation”. I kid you not, dear worried parent. 😢 We’re in this together.

Just a split second ago,you caught your LO trying to tip the Venetian flower vase& when you save that vase by fluke & you hear shattering sounds *kaboom* from your bedroom. The poor klutzy you rushes in,only to find your LO smiling, standing a good distance away from the crime scene.

Pray, tell me dear parent… Just how did your toddler manage to find himself in the bedroom in split seconds and also shatter your favourite hand held “VanityMirror”,which was btw way beyond his reach?? I really ought to tell you,it’s telekinesis and not you clumsily forgetting that mirror on the baby chair. 😐😐 You can’t always be the klutzomaniac, please.😒

I staunchly believe so. Period.

So,there are things our toddlery LO’s try to tell us every other day. They can talk, yes they do.. But for complex sentences, they still rely on Sign languages & broken sentences. Here are the few,yet common things our toddlers tell us:

1348888353674_9244549

  • He starts crying uncontrollably for no reason or throws tantrums:

My LO usually behaves all perked, irritated,tantrum-y, crybaby-ish,uncontrollable,etc when he is super tired, groggy or confused. That’s the way he signals me these 3 emotions. He still can’t define them, nor can he understand what they mean. Ergo, a bawling episode alerts me. I,end up pacifying him & giving him the comfort that, I understand him.(psssst.. Sometimes,I just feel like running away, but then I think of all the mess I’d have to face, when I get back & refrain that thought)

  • He hugs you &seems disturbed or tells you to pick him up,cuddles& kisses you:

Whenever my sister or brother try to show even as much as an iota of authority over me,the LO starts his PDA with me. By authority I mean,” I love you Sis.” Or ” I love Emmy” Or ” Emmy lets go out” Or ” Emmy do you love me?”. Those words & the LO is breaking all boundaries & borders, just to come near me & claim me as his. This usually is a sign of a toddler, trying to establish his authority over things he loves. He craves your attention& loves it when you shower him with it. I,for one.. Love these episodes & leave no stone unturned to have him give me kissykoos.

  • He sticks to the walls,or goes into a room, makes himself invisible or tells you to look away, when he’s pooping:

Be supercharged, your kid has progressed to the next level of independence. He’s ready to be potty trained. This is your kid’s way of letting you know, that he fairly understands the need for privacy& also good etiquettes. That’s a big word eh? But he knows it already. What you should do is encourage your child & teach him a few more things about privacy&manners, like dressing in private or not burping& farting in front of people.

  • Doesn’t look into your eyes, bows his head down & appears embarrassed:

When you child has understood the concept of privacy&etiquettes,it isn’t surprising that he also knows the emotion of embarrassment.Your toddler at this very moment is a smart bloke. He understands that the certain thing he has done will get him no brownie points, but will surely get you into a fit of lip biting rage, tears& disappointment. To combat that emotion, your toddler starts looking away, not looking at you in the eye or bows his head down. He understands that he is wrong.

  • He starts fidgeting or starts licking his lips or has a blank face around a few or a group of people:

This means that your LO isn’t as comfortable as you would like him to be with that particular group of people. He finds new faces overwhelming and starts diverting his attention at something else to stop himself from interacting with those people. Licking lips, brimming of eyes, fidgeting are all signs of uneasiness. Try keeping your child close to you and introducing these people one by one. Keep him in your arms & let him interact with others. When he’s ready, slowly let him go,while you’re within his sight. Wave at him and interact from a distance, telling him he’s safe with the others too.

  • He talks & shows imaginary things or people:

Ok,I need to tell you this. I hate this! Like super hate this. The other day,I was in my bed & clearly enjoying my magazine. The LO comes in and jumps into my bed and says he wants to sleep in my lap,I say ok. **poof** We have a power cut,I tell someone to switch on the UPS & in that minute my son says,”Emmy look Milly is up there.” Trust me,at that minute.. I wanted to leave the LO and run for my life. Scenes from Grudge,Exorcist etc came at me. All I could say was,” Arham,I dunno if you wanna pee in your diapers, but I think I’m gonna be peeing in my pants now”. When the UPS came on,so did my strength and I said,” Who is Milly?” To which he replied,” Milly the Monkey” (reference to his finger puppet) I sighed a breath of relief & laughed like a buffoon.

But whatever dude,I get freaked outta my wits. Day or night,I don’t find it funny or the least bit interesting 😖😭😭 Anyways, this isn’t about me.. So when your LO does this,it means that he has developed a flair for interaction & reenacting the things he sees, hears& feels during his awake time. His imagination is running wild, which will help him in thought processing & understanding consequences.

So much for being a parent. I don’t think that there is a better superhero than us. We’re all saving the day in one way or the other at home. **RESPECT**

How I lost weight.. My success story.

Ok guys… I lost a whopping 5 kilos in the last 3 months, and I’m not interested in finding them again. This is one thing I’d absolutely love to abandon.. The pounds, ounces and kilos. They sound so dreaded, almost like a bag full of leaping froggies and toads. Not the ” Kermit” kinds, but the ugly puddle and pond toads kinds. On the contrary, they aren’t even half as scary as the extra pounds. What I dread are the airports…  I’m always dreading them because,I might end up paying for extra baggage on myself. 😂😂😂

” Hey you!! Yeah you.. Stop rolling your eyes please. Thank you” 😳😳

Back to the point… I’ve discovered, the most foolproof plan to lose weight at the drop of the hat.. Well fedoras and hamburgs and berets also count. I noticed that I just needed a few things and a strict disciplinary measure,to keep myself motivated and in the loop. By the end of 3 months,I found myself to be 5 kilos lighter.

Here’s a list of all that you really ever need,in your weight loss journey:

  • A Yoga mat
  • A stability physio ball
  • A pair of plastic Dumbbells
  • A jump rope

Trust me when I say this.. this is all that I bought for myself to lose some weight and not peace of my mind.

I’m going to explain each use of the above equipments in detail. So please snuggle back and relax, while I give you the wisdom of the millennials.

  • The Yoga Mat : This was the first and the most foremost investment I did. Well actually,I bought all those things together at one go. But,my eyes fell on the yoga mat first. I know how important the yoga mat is, it’s your personal space while working out, giving you the cushiony feel while you exercise. I used to start with lying down on my back straight. Make sure that you meditate before the exercise. Just 5 minutes.. Think of how you would see yourself in a year from now& all such motivational thoughts. I,in particular would do it for 2 minutes and then find my son jumping on my stomach playing horsey… ” DUDE.. ARHAM, MOMMY IS IN A TRANSITIONAL PHASE.. She’s becoming beautiful” but the nagging would continue and I’d leave it at 2 minutes and progress to the next one. Who needs meditation anyways??

  • Stability Physio Ball: One of the most versatile equipments and a must have for home gyms. Even if you don’t wanna invest much, the stability ball doubles up as an all round core training aid. Targeted at all chest, abdominal and spine muscles, this is the most inexpensive way to get fit..

Start with standing straight.. And with a straight back seat yourself on the ball squatting, then…. **PLONK!! **

“ARHAAAAM, MOMMY IS EXERCISING.. THIS ISNT FOOTBALL”  Sees her LO playing with it and after a lot of ” It’s mine” monologue, gives in and passes on the ball to the LO..  Stability balls are ok.. Dumbbells are the real deal.

  • The plastic dumbbell: Errr… I’m glad you’re still sticking around for more. This is the real place where you tone up and lose weight. Buy some suitable weight Dumbbells, they are gonna be your best friends in your journey.

Legs shoulder width apart, slightly curve your back and pick the Dumbbells off the floor, without bending your knees. Now,slowly lift them to your….. * OUCCCCHHH!! * Arham finds mommy funny and throws a dumbbell at her feet. The dumbbell stubs her toe. Prancing like the mad hatter, mommy cries..

Limping, mommy thinks about the benefits of the jump rope.

  • Lastly, the Jump rope: Don’t be fooled at the inexpensiveness of the jump rope. Let me tell you that the jump rope is an exquisite piece of an equipment. It buttonholes your weight and demands it to vacate your body. Targeted at a complete body workout, jump rope is the best thing ever. Period.

Hold the rope in your hands and start skipping at every round of rope. You need to do at least a 50.

This is how you do it,…..

After round 13… Arham tries joining in, and Mommy trips & is a mess.

LO holds the rope and starts a ” Tug-o-war” with mommy. 15 minutes later, after all the jumping and snatching and shouting… Arham gives the jumping rope. Mommy folds it neatly, packs into the box and stares…

Mommy feels letdown.. Maybe, home gymming isn’t my thing.

You see,it’s only after all this I realised that my weight was dropping, not because of the fancy-shmancy stuffs, but because of the maintenance that comes along with a baby in his ” TERRIBLE TWO’s”. The Running, the yelling, the playing, the picking up of toys and picking the LO up,the tantrums, the cooking, the random night bawlings, the invasive sleep periods, the showers, the bath soaks, the activity times and getting ready for activity times. Well, you see.. That’s how I lost weight,by being a “Mom” and also with some cups of green tea.

As for the purchases I made… The yoga mat is LO’s play mat,the stability ball is LO’s substitute for football, the Dumbbells have a better use now as paperweights and the jump rope??? Why it’s a makeshift fastener for the huge carton filled with books.

There isn’t any job as strenuous and as daunting as that of a mother. I,have domestic help and my mum to help me out. I only wonder in awe,how mummy raised us all on her own in a country that wasn’t hers.

She was ever so fearless and made sure we had the best.. Dear mummy.. I love you,I love you for all those nights I kept you awake and for all those days I kept you busy.

So,for all of you wanting to lose weight.. Get a baby.. That’s the secret, the foolproof plan😁😁

P.s: I do not advocate unhealthy lifestyles or discourage exercise, all this post says is the weight I lost wasn’t  due to the traditional gymming but due to exercise in the form of chores.

WHAT DOES YOUR NEWBORN WANT??

Just when you thought that your baby has joined the family and well, life is all roses no thorns are you struck down by naked reality of the responsibility that a baby comes with. Really??? I mean weren’t all those 9 months of throwing up, exhaustion, headaches, out of proportion body enough of a sacrifice for the baby? Apparently NOOOO! That was just the yummy part.

Having a baby is the most beautiful experience, well, lets just not consider those banana spilts and angel cakes and hershey’s kisses and.. ahemm ahemmm… Oh dear me! excuse my “thought feeds” in middle of my posts. They just keep happening. So, lets get back to my point, all that im saying is “Congratulations! You have just won yourself an unlimited supply of baby drool, baby poop, spit ups and baby tantrums and we have a special surprise for you a year’s supply of sleep deprivation too.!!” At the risk of sounding extremely negative, newborns are beautiful but there are a kazillion things you have to remember about them when they are having their transitions. A few are:

  • Make sure you give your baby his milk at a 3-4 hour interval.
  • Make sure you burp him up after his feed preferably within 5-10 minutes. I’ve noticed that my baby would have a huge spit up after his feed if i wouldn’t let him burp at that 5-10 minute break.
  • Burping the baby has to be done with gentle strokes on his back when he’s lying on your shoulder.
  • Decide if you prefer a crib or co-sleeping.
  • If you opt for a crib, make sure that the baby upholstery is washed and cleaned atleast once a week, see that it has no sharp ends, invest in good HYPOALLERGENIC beddings.
  • Try to invest in organic hypoallergenic beddings,it’s more breathable and comfortable for your baby.
  • If you opt for co-sleeping,please make sure you are not overpowering the baby’s space. If you are a deep sleeper and a” stretch my guts off kinda mommy” then co-sleeping is out of bounds for you.
  • Invest in organic cotton clothes for the newbie.
  • Please please do not overdress your newborn. I understand the concern of new mothers who find their newbies so fragile that they instinctively have a maternal shield that in some weird way coaxes them into overdressing the baby. Please remember that your baby just needs 1 layer more than your dressing. If you are on 1 blanket, then the baby requires 2 not 5. Overdressing is a dangerous and can even cause death.
  • SIDS(Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) is the risk that arises due to overdressing that causes suffocation or asphyxiation.
  • Do not buy your baby clothes for the upcoming winter or summer. Clothes remain the same but your baby outgrows them. You have absolutely no idea of how fast they grow. What seemed perfect last month can end up pinching his bottom this month.
  • If you plan to breastfeed, then do remember to buy nursing pads and a good quality breast pump. Breast pumps are of 2 types manual and electric. If you are a working woman an electric pump would go a long way for you. So choose carefully.
  • If you plan to bottle feed your baby please ask help from your health adviser or your paediatrician regarding the baby formula.Every baby is different something that suits your neighbour’s baby might not be right for yours. If your baby is a preemie you will be asked to use a formula that allows your baby to catch up with other babies.
  • Learn and master the art of bottle sterilization.Remember your bottles are good only upto 24 hours after which they lose their sterility.
  • Sterilize by boiling or steam sterilization. There are tons of great sterilizers out there that have different catchy uses, but it all comes down to one thing boiling or steam you need to use it within 24 hours.
  • Use  BPA free bottles, toys and BPA free cleaning brushes. It’s Bisphenol-A,its a cause of worry because research shows that BPA may seep through food and beverages and cause a variety of problems for the newborn ranging from heart problems to brain developmental problems.
  • Do not use talcs on the baby’s skin for atleast a month. From my experience it really does create a havoc, its better to leave the baby in his natural, unaltered form for a month.Same applies for baby colognes.
  • Invest in good brands of baby soaps, body foams, bathrobes, baby mittens, nappy creams, bottom butters, body oils, body lotions and if your baby is blessed with good hair then a shampoo.Believe me that is all that they need in their first months. Not much of a list over there.
  • Make sure all the baby toiletries are “PARABENS FREE”.
  • A bathing seat which has anti-slip holds must be kept in mind.
  • Anti-slip bath mats for you so that you don’t happen to land yourself in trouble with the baby in your arms.
  • Invest in a good sunscreen for the baby. It’s an absolute must have.
  • Invest in the best diapers that you can afford in the baby’s first few months. You will thank me for it later. Make sure the diapers are made out of breathable fabric.Brands like pampers, mamy poko pants, huggies etc. are just a delicious dream for the baby.
  • If you are going to go eco-friendly and opt for fabric diapers then you really have nothing much to worry about except the laundry ofcourse. Let me make that immediate laundry.
  • No food or water for the baby for his first 6 months, irrespective of what your grandmother says. Proven by the AAP (American Academy of Paediatrics). Here is an excerpt from “www.about.com” The American Academy of Pediatrics actually states that “until your baby starts eating solid foods, he’ll get all the water he needs from breastmilk or formula.”
  • Lastly, remember that no baby grows more happily than the one whose caretaker is happy. So,remember to do yourself a favour and be happy throughout.Shower your baby with hugs and kisses. There’s hardly anyone more receptive than them to love.

Now with all that little bit of information you are ready to go ahead and take your first baby steps in caring for your baby.Enjoy your experience with your little one.Your baby may demand for something more or maybe not as much as you thought so.The angel that you possess is just yours, just that exclusive piece that nobody else has,so its only fair that it comes with a high price tag and maintainence. Keep enjoying your Mommyhood.. cheers!!
