How to give yourself some hypertension?

Hey peeps, I’ve been busy tizzy with a wedding at home & also, I had miraculously found myself sinking into the depths of a liquid diet.

It just started outta the blue, I couldn’t breathe, I cramped near the shoulder blades, I couldn’t eat without this sharp searing pain, I couldn’t drink water either & if I slept.. It was a hellish hole of an experience.

Turns out, I was hypertensed. I, refuted my GP’s claim by rolling my eyes like they were rolling pins on a mission to make 50 flatbreads in 60 seconds.

“Me? Hypertension? Absolutely not. I will have none of that mind manipulating load of cacophony.” I, argued pretty bitterly.

And my GP couldn’t care any lesser. If, I was a rolling pin.. My GP was a rolling launch of verbal medical diarrhoea. He just didn’t seem to care. The lethargy 😱😱

“Just some hypertension, which could’ve been due to physical or emotional stress. I’m guessing your epigastrium is a problem here, you might have GERD going on or maybe it’s just esophagitis. These are the doses, must be fine within a week & if not, then we need to carry on a few crucial tests. Till then, you’re on a purely liquid diet”

You, loony balloony doctor!! That statement, gave me hypertension then & there. Hypertension, because apparently, my anniversary was just 2 days after that dreaded announcement.

I’m a little fine tuned to insomnia, graveyard shifts & direct lunches. So, really.. I have nothing, as in nothing to worry about. But, the seed was sowed in deep.

Crucial tests?? What kinda crucial tests?

Being the psycho i was born, my first thought went to the fact, that.. What if I never recovered? What if I was bound to never breathe normal again? What have I achieved in my life? What if I’m never gonna get my hands on a walking stick?

I, had to take this in my own hands.. I had to find out what I had. I, needed a second opinion. For the GP, I’m just another case, but for me.. I’m the only case of life.

So, I wiped my tears & those frown lines & got myself ready for a second opinion. I switched on my IPhone & went straight to the most reliable second opinion within seconds.. “GOOGLE”.

If, I was hypertensed because of what the GP said.. Now I was super duper, hyper-dyper tensed because of what these online medical sites wrote. All & almost all of them, were convinced, that, I had esophagal cancer. And, I dearly wished… At that time that, GERD or esophagitis was so much more lucrative, anyday.

All, I could think of was.. Never being able to see my son have kids!! 😭😭 I had to think far.. What if, the hubster remarried & got home a horrible “Hansel- Gretel” kinda stepmum? What if, this & what if that..

For 5 nights in a row, I did so much research on esophagal cancer, that I can now, just do a thesis on it & bag the prize.

The anniversary lunch went in bed (ill on bed, I mean) with some soup & a family dinner in the evening, with me eating little bits of bread & soup. What a way, to celebrate our anniversary.. Our plans for the “Koh Samui” trip flopped & we had to cancel everything, but atleast I was alive! 😢😢

On the 6th day, just as uninvited the pain came, it left ever so quietly.. I could breathe normally, drink water without any pain & eat just about anything. The curse was broken, I was freeeee… I didn’t really need a crucial test & nor did I need a second visit to the GP.

For some reason, I realised how important that episode was. It seemed like, here I was cribbing about how, I haven’t upgraded my makeup stash from the past 9 months & the next moment, I was humbled that atleast I had some life left.

It screwed my anniversary & my plans, but taught me the most important lesson of my life.. “Love & appreciate what you have”. Those 5 days were hell, but it changed the way, I perceived everything.

I don’t make “New Year Resolutions”, but this time, I’m making one.

“Appreciate the Gifts I have, other things will happen on their own”

*also to upgrade that makeup stash, get creme de la mer, do a shopping haul from Harrods, Beauty workshop, Primark & Poundland soon.. It doesn’t have to be expensive all the time.

**make sure, I do that trip no matter what.

• Btw..women will always be women, no matter what!!

Happy New Year my lovelies!! What resolutions do you have in store??😁😁😁❤️❤️

Hello Curry,an interactive meet-Review

It was that time of the week, when hearts start pumping & stomachs start growling. Umm.. No, I’m not talking about an oncoming infection or high blood pressure, coupled with anxiety attack. The symptoms may look like it, but all I’m talking about is the ” 12 th FBAB MEET”. Me, excited!!

The agenda of this meet, was all about fast food delivery modules. Who better to conduct that, than team “Hello Curry”. Hello Curry, has been around for quite sometime now & have been quite successful in standing true to what their USP is, which is “delivering Indian fast food”.

We were invited over to the “Cartier Hotel” for an in depth discussion about “Hello Curry’s” working module. The room was filled with anticipation, about what was going to unfold.

The team started with their presentation & we were given our courses. Though, it wasn’t the exact chronology of the course, we enjoyed whatever was coming our way.

We were first given the light, fluffy & distinctive Biryani to start our meal. Yes, you heard me right, we started with a main course 😁 I love surprises & this was one of them. The biryani was really light & had a no fuss approach. The flavours of the rice as well as the spices came through, but ever so lightly. It’s the kinda biryani you would eat, if you don’t wanna stuff yourself up like a little gummy bear. Mostly, great for luncheons.

Next came the Parathas. Oh my loony balloony me!! They were so darn delicious. Like I could eat 10 of them. We were served the “Paneer Paratha” with accompaniments. The Paneer aka Cottage cheese was such a welcome after the biryani. It had the right kinda spice, flavourful & hearty.

At the end, we were served Steamed Rice with Dilliwali Dal Makhani, Panchmeal ki Subzi & Mystic Kadhai Paneer. All the curries, come in the cuteness overloaded curry pots. But, I’ll come to packaging in a few.

The curries were I have to say, light, filled with flavour & smooth. I had my heart on the delish “Dilliwali Dal Makhani”. Usually, the dal makhanis that we eat are rich & buttery & I, staunchly support that, that’s how it oughta be. But.. I was in for a surprise when, this light dal was deliciously different. It’s the kinda dal, that satiates your craving & keeps you on your toes.

The Panchmeal ki subzi & The Mystic Kadhai Paneer were fair enough, a certain level of mediocrity was present in them. They were light & good too, but they weren’t extraordinary. The curries are served either on 350gms of rice or 2 Parathas of your choice.

Our last course was the dessert. We had, Double ka Meetha & Chocolate Shots for the sweet toothy. Dear Lord!! Sweet Toothy was happy. The Double Ka Meetha was quite runny, not the way it’s supposed to be, but it was fair enough.

What impressed me immensely was the “Chocolate Shot”. Aahh!! The smooth whipped cream with sugar shards & chocolate chips was such a “love-me”thing. I saw, all of the bloggers help themselves to a second helping. They still haven’t, introduced it on the menu, but if they do.. It’s gonna be a yum addition.

Let’s get to the super amazing packaging. The packaging is super convenient, you could just start digging right in & be not worried about cutlery. The packs are recyclable, quirky & easy to carry. You could be at the office & eating or walking with the Bluetooth in your ear & eating or you could be just plain lazy, watching your soap opera at home & stuffing your face. The packaging is spot on.

The curries come in curry pots, the rice in takeaway paper boxes & the Parathas in amazing “inflight” kinda tray boxes.

At the moment they deliver to ” Electronic City, Marathahalli, Madivala & Ulsoor.

UCB-UNITED DREAMS, Love yourself- Perfume review.

Disclaimer:

Ummm.. Okay guys!! I’m literally in a brittle bone situation. This post can pretty surely make or break my elaborate thinking of “I can do any kinda review” 😁😂😂. I, really don’t know, if I should do posts like these. Though “ThePlateMemoirs” is a blog about Food, lifestyle & Ramblings and perfumes do fall within the lifestyle category. I’m still sceptical about reviewing them.

I’m quite passionate when it’s about perfumes. If you follow me on “Instagram”, you will know that fragrances are one of the things i like indulging in. So, do holler, if you would want me to do more of perfume reviews. A louder holler if it’s a big “NOOOOOO” 😬😬😬

Here it goes:

Je me presente ” United Dreams by  Benetton” aka United Colours Of Benetton.

The “United Dreams” collection is a peppy, sensual & feminine array of 3 super delish fragrances for women. The collection has been made with emphasis on women & her dilemmas about her dreams. It was launched in the July of 2014. The collection has quite aptly & ever so sincerely named the 3 as:

  • Stay Positive.
  • Live Free.
  • Love Yourself.

I’m a sucker for all things pink & peachy. And… I picked up “Love Yourself”.

I was never the one who’d love “UCB” fragrances, I love my “Guess & Dior” way too much. But this line, had me rethinking about my choices. Everything just clicked for me.

The bottle is a gorgeous see through one with a hexagonal cap. The bottle is easy to carry & literally doesn’t take much space of your vanity dresser either. I adore the fact, that it comes with a great message pasted on the label. If you do need some “Punch Packing” motivation, all you gotta do is read the bottle in your hand. They even have a nice pink ribbon on the neck of the bottle, which says, ” No Dreams. No Change.”

How does “LOVE YOURSELF” smell?

I’ll be honest. I had quite a hard time choosing between “Stay Positive” & “Love yourself”. Both of them appealed me immensely, but the fruity floral of “love yourself” sealed the deal.

For me, this fragrance is a fragile reminder of gardens & refined Victorian settings. Yes, it’s a piece of England, maybe. 😁😍

Notes of this fragrance:

Top notes: Pear, Apricot, Raspberry & Bergamot.

Heart: Jasmine, Freesia & Rose.

Base Notes: Amber, Musk & Sandalwood.

The exquisite notes do nothing but pep you up completely. The first spritz has a beautiful bloom of all the top notes, it’s just so floral fruity. After it settles down & dries, you’re faced with wafts of a powdery rose-sandal kinda scent. Again I love roses & all, so it really does please me immensely.

The longevity is moderate, for about 3 hours at the max. For me, longevity is one of the most important factors after smell. I want noses to make their owners turn towards the wearer. No matter how great the fragrance, if it isn’t long wearing, I’m not interested.

The sillage (see- yaazh, I’ve heard people pronounce it as Sill Age) too is pretty moderate again. But yes, irrespective of things being moderate, I love it. The pricing too is pretty fair enough. This baby lasted me for a whopping 4 months, which is quite great as I used it for daily wear.

Price: Rs. 1800/- for 40ml. (Not very sure, though)

Have you tried the “United Dreams”?? Love it or Hate it?? If you guys are gonna be fine, then maybe my next post is gonna be a panegyric about perfumes. ❤️❤️

Paperboat Drinks; Reviewing Memories.

So, just about how many of us have obdurately held onto a few pleasures, which time and again, transcend you back to the vivid & hazy memories of “uniform pinafores, tennis shoes, dusty basketballs, chapped knees, lost water bottles, that pedagogue we all were scared of & secrets in the school bus?” Do I see a smile?? Oh yes! Please read on..

I’m sure all of us have those few magic paraphernalias which stimulate that nostalgia. For some, it’s the smell of bread baking, for some the smell of wet earth, for some it it’s a charm bracelet & for some it’s a retro song.

While, I have literally tens & tens of stuff to remind me of childhood, there are but only a few things to remind me of our vacays in India. Like, Papa’s handmade card for my birthday, which I would have been celebrating in India during our vacay ( Which never came on my birthday anyway & came 3 days after papa arrived to India, to escort us back ), Hajmolas, Golas, Chaats & Jaljeera.

Hajmolas are these little button sized chewable tablets, which make you pucker like crazy. Golas are crushed ice Popsicles with syrup. Chaats are sweet-savoury assortments. Jaljeera is a cumin drink, much like a palate cleanser & an aid to digestion.

Imagine the happiness I felt, when I saw “Paperboat drinks”. They have a very apt liner which says, “Drinks and Memories”. This stands staunchly true, when you gulp down those first mouthfuls. Apart from the super cute matte doypack with a spout, the names and their pictorial representations were just really the start. The true conundrum lies in picking your favourite, choosing a few to take back home, leaving the rest on that shelf with a heavy heart. Just how, pray tell me how, does one choose between good memories? How does one choose between reliving a giggle with a cousin, whilst tasting what Jaljeera is for the first time & reliving the excitement of purloining your grandma’s coins for Golas?

I’m a heartfelt hoarder when it comes to “Paperboat”, I’m compulsive buying by the tens. I, get mum her favourite memories & i get me mine. Slowly, both of us have started exchanging memories now 😁😁

My favourites are;

  • Jaljeera
  • Kokum
  • Kala khatta
  • Tulsi tea( mum’s favourite  actually, this was what papa had concocted up for her, when she first landed in Saudi Arabia) ❤️❤️

By that, it doesn’t mean that, i don’t fancy others. Why, I do.. But when these are around, it’s really hard to overlook them.

Brief insights into the product:

  • They taste amazing great, all of them. Period.
  • They are packed with benefits for you, like Kokum helps in cholesterol management, anti-inflammatory etc.
  • The are priced at Rs.30/- , which let’s face it, is pretty dead cheap.
  • They are great during travels, so convenient to carry around.
  • The matte doypack with the spout, is just super quirky cute. Look at those pictorials!! 😍😍
  • They are preservative & artificial flavours free.. 💃🏻💃🏻
  • All are 250ml pouches.

Hmmm.. Yep!! That’s that! Im relishing a nice Kokum now, what about you?

Do leave your comments about, whether you’ve tried Paperboat drinks & how you feel about them.

P.S: This in no way is a sponsored article, the unbiased opinions and views expressed here are completely my own.

P.P.S: I really, would have loved this to be a sponsored one though, because my stock’s depleting & I’m literally craving to taste their new kid on the block “Anar” (pomegranate), & it seems to be found nowhere😱😢

“knock knock!! Paperboat are you listening??”

The Bungalow,Whitefield- Restaurant Review

While I’m clinking & clonking the cutlery & plates, I scrape the fork on my plate in a disastrous effort to try & pick that little Parmesan shaving lying there in distress.

“I’m sorry I ignored you Parmesan, this is all my fault. I shouldn’t have ever neglected you.”

Then I notice that the shrill scrape certainly has activated the amygdalia of my table buddies. I, look away in an attempt to save myself from an embarrassing situation.

That’s a snippet for you, from my last “Bloggers Meet”. This time we found ourselves at this beautiful Restaurant, called “The Bungalow”. It was the “9th FBAB FOOD TASTING SESSION”. If there are things that make me super happy, then these meets are one of them.

The Bungalow is a beautiful place with just the right kinda ambitious decor to its credit. The whole place has an old world charm, with quirky memorabilia to blackboards and old world tanned leather couches. The ceiling is high, like super high & I wanna just sleep in here, staring at the ceiling while counting sheep.

The presence of those colonial architectural thingamajigs with beautiful mosaic of black & white flooring is just perfect. The only thing that is modern is that projector 😁😁 That’s only to keep you in here for longer.

I can almost imagine, this to be a leisure club for elites. Put in a few dapper men with tuxedos & Cuban cigars, maybe a few ladies with the beehives & flapper dresses & I’m ready to transcend into the early 1920’s.

Ambience & Decor: 5/5

The wait staff are just a dream. I mean every word of that. Our maître d’ Mr. Kamal, was by far the most friendliest one I’ve come across. Not only did he have one of the most refined serving etiquettes, he was also a really warm personality. The service was 5/5, not a thing to point my finger at.

The pleasures of food are but many. What I honestly anticipated was a fair to middling buffet, with forgettable dishes. And, that thought prepared me for the most delightful spread. I, seek for forgiveness with that farouche attitude, but I’m just scared of having my heart & appetite broken, so i think all negative 🤓🤓 The philosophy makes sense I suppose? 🙄🙄

Here’s a delicious episode which will have you breaking your will power, a few heroes of the multicuisine dinner in each course are highlighted:

WELCOME DRINK & STARTERS:

1) Thai Drink : Mammma Mia, this was such a refresher. As soon as I took a sip of this muddy brown drink, I was sold. A beautiful Tamarind infused drink with little balls of tamarind on a toothpick. A drink that wasn’t gonna make you pucker your lips, but surely gave a nice punch.

2) Basil Pesto Cottage Cheese: Had there been a contest, to see who eats these the most, I certainly would’ve made my mark. Alas! There wasn’t and I had to do good with 2 helpings 😢😢 The firm paneer was basking in the glory of that pesto. The basil came through & that Parmesan shaving gave a savoury touch to it. Loved it!!

3)Puff Pastry with a creamy filling: Ok!! It wasn’t called that, but I was so engrossed in eating it that I forgot to ask what was it? The crispy puff layers with delectable dollop of mayo, cream with veggies kinda creme just made it the perfect short eat.

4) The Gorgeous Salads: I looked into those greens & i could only see them, ever so provocatively lure me to devour them. The Caesars, Veggies in Blueberry Dressing & Coleslaw were just so good. The blueberry dressed salad was the hero here!!

5) Broccoli & Almond Soup: How does one make a soup, a starter? Well, reserve those brain cells.. I dipped my bread & slurped the soup. Yes! That’s how I make a soup equal to a starter. Marvellous & nutty, this one warmed me up.

6) Veggie Pizza: Life is going good when you bite into a pizza & are kissed passionately by its simple flavour. What a pizza, marvellously delish. Joints which specialise in ” so called Pizzas”, must take a lesson or two from “The Bungalow”. The pizzas were gorgeous, every veggie got to sing, not dry yet wasn’t greasy. What fun just thinking about it 😍😍

MAIN COURSE:

Well after being stuffed with the starters, I really had no place for the main course. Just got a spoonful of helpings of a few things to give it a taste.

A few delicious mentions would be the Paneer Pasanda, Palak Saag, vegetable crepes. I just adored these in the mains. Btw, that’s how my plate looked 👆🏻👆🏻 & this is how it was plated 👇🏻👇🏻 First up is the vegetable crepe.

That’s Paneer Pasanda & mint rice.

Dal Makhani with kulcha.

Choice of pasta at the live pasta counter.

DESSERTS:

I’m not too much of a dessert person, I ate the blueberry mascarpone & it was delicious. But that’s all I could eat. Oh oh oh!! & Pancakes.. 😍😍 Here’s a look.

They even had Baskin Robbins Icecream for all.

THINGS I DRANK:

A refreshing virgin mojito

A sweet, but colourful  Litchi Mocktail.

Some Good ole Green tea.

The Food scores a 5/5.

Verdict:

Yes, The Bungalow is just your perfect Restaurant, with everything romantic in place. The VFM value is super great as Rs.555+taxes for this buffet was worth it.

P.s: I opted for the vegetarian course, there were a lot of stars on the non veg course.

Saffron & Licorice Soap by Azafran Organics- Review.

Im a confused lady, when the question is about whether I should use Soaps or Shower Gels. With ads popping up on your TV screen every other day, it becomes impossible to remain faithful to one.

Sometimes Soap is all that I need & sometimes it’s those shower gels that make me happy. But, for now, I’m obsessed with “Handmade or Handcrafted Soaps”. I, find myself buying them every other day.

For the past few weeks i’ve been compulsive buying soap bars from ” Azafran Organics” called ” Saffron & Licorice Skin Lightening Soap”, “Neem&Haldi” & ” Rose Geranium”.

Azafran Organics has a very catchy tag line ” Farm to Face”. They are an Ahmedabad based brand where they have their own organic farms that are the source of their products. The products claim to be 85% filled with organic ingredients.

This particular soap bar is my favourite out of the 3 variations.

Let me give you one good reason why you should consider this International organic company. Their “Skin Firming Cream” was voted as the “Best New Organic Product 2015” by the “Beauty Awards”. Oh! And did I mention that the competition was a cut throat one?

The company hasn’t ever compromised on the quality of its products. It’s just organic goodness for you. What’s even better is that their organic ingredients are ECOCERT certified. Now, that’s what I call ” Cruising in style”.

Insight into “Saffron & Licorice Skin lightening Soap” :

Ingredients: Safflower Wax, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Aqua, Sodium Hydroxide, Licorice Extract, Vetiver Oil, Saffron.

  • Firstly, I have no obsession with making my skin WHITER or LIGHTER 😂 . I bought this for the exotic medley of saffron & Licorice. I was just so curious about it.
  • Secondly, the bar is just a piece of nostalgia. This smells of red earth on a rainy day. I mean, come on now people… Who wouldn’t want that? I, could just smell this for hours.
  • Thirdly, it claims to be highly moisturising. Which it is, when I used this as a bathing aid. But, when I used it as facewash substitute, it stripped my skin off any moisture that was present. Now, after i say that, I must tell you this that my skin is the Sahara Desert these days. Dry as hell! It worked wonderfully for others, the little sister, mum & a friend. Btw.. We had individual bars, all of us didn’t use the same bar. 😂
  • Fourthly… Ok! Now that sounds dumb.. I’m skipping the numerics after this 😁 It says that it’s a whitening bar. I dunno about whitening, but it surely made my skin even & clean.
  • The bar lasts for 9 days if you’re gonna be using this twice a day for the face. It lasts 4-5 days if you’re gonna be using this as a bathing aid. So, it doesn’t really last for a long while.
  • It’s handcrafted, so you can expect minor differences in each bar shape.
  • It’s priced at Rs.105/-  which is a tad bit higher than normal soaps, but you need to appreciate the quality stringency. When I think of the quality, I totally think that it’s a reasonable pricing.
  • All ingredients are ECOCERT & are organic. What we need to understand is that there is a difference between Organic & Herbal. Where herbal means just about any herb, organic is a more stringent process of choosing that herb. It must be devoid of any pesticides & chemicals to be ECOCERT certified as Organic. That’s purity at its best for you.

Verdict: A total recommend and a must have for everyone concerned about the excessive use of parabens and sulfates in their products. It’s time to turn the clock backwards.

The Gelatin Question..Yupi Pizza Gummy- Product Review.

Okay! This is gonna be a real quick food product review. I, couldn’t care any less about gummies. Sure, I love them, but not so much so that I would do a review on it. But, what motivated me was my son. Yep! He did..

He absolutely adores these gummies by “Yupi” . Yupi is an Indonesian brand, which manufactures these really quirky candies & gummies. They have the gummy bears, gummy pizza, gummy burgers, etc.

One of the most primary concern I have as a parent buying these gummies is, whether they are safe enough and what kind of gelatin source do they use. I, am on a constant lookout for vegetarian or vegan alternatives when it comes to gummies & candies.

I wouldn’t bear the fact that I would be providing gelatin from an animal source to my kid. We all know how gelatin is made, so I’m gonna skip the horrendous detail part.

Sometimes, our minds just work weird. There is a “Halal Certified” seal on the Yupi Products. Which, I foolishly assumed meant that the gelatin was derived from a plant source, which is known as Pectin by the way.

Hello Miss Bimbo!! Apparently, it’s not. Why would you need Halal certification for plant origins? 😒😒

So, to my horror I realised that I’ve been supplying gelatin in a delicious, fruity, chewy form to my child. And, it’s been a long time since I felt that horrible.

The halal certificate doesn’t make it any better for me. So, if you don’t mind the gelatin perspective, go ahead and enjoy it. I’ve eaten it too 😔😔😖😖

Let me just tell you a few things here:

Pros:

  • The gummies do taste yum. They have this extremely chewy & smooth kinda texture.
  • They are in fair enough replica of a pizza. Which for me was the one which made me buy this.
  • They are fruity.
  • Very inexpensive. One pack costs about Rs.20/- for 4 slices.

Cons:

  • Gelatin is one of the ingredients.

During my research on gelatin, I found alot of shocking facts, which I will be putting up in a forthcoming post.

Oh by the way, I found a great alternative to my son’s gummy bear addiction. It’s the vegan alternative called “Super Gummy Vitamins”. Trust me, I couldn’t be happier. The review will be up soon.

Happy me!!

Yves Saint Laurent, Touché Éclat- Product Review.

The YSL Touché Éclat! Is there anyone over here, who doesn’t know about the magic elixir packaged in a pen? Well, if you don’t then you really are missing alot of action in the beauty world.

Any makeup addict, fashionista, beauty guru or a makeup artist who is worth his or her salt, will probably tell you how this product is a can’t live without. I mean, let’s just put all the hype that this YSL product has & just for a moment think about what’s going on?

Why are so many people swearing by it? Why is it a must have? Why can’t I live without it? Are there any other cheaper alternatives or dupes? And lastly, do I really need it?

The touché éclat is more of a statement makeup. This little pen does come with bragging rights bestowed upon its owner. Somehow, the touché éclat is supposed to talk about your refined taste. 😒😒 I’m like.. Uhhmm.. Ok!!

The reason I bought this baby is because of the hype. Yes, I fell for it & decided to sacrifice the Givenchy “Ange Ou Etrange” fragrance ( which is still on my wish list btw) that I had been eyeing. This Dang pen better be good stuff, or i had promised myself to never read a fashion mag ever again. 😱😱  Gladly, I’m a vogue subscriber till date 😁😁

What is the Touché Éclat?

Let me try to put this in the most simplest way ever. The touché éclat is the most beautifully blendable concealer, highlighter & corrector in one. Touché Éclat is the mommy of all things & mommies are always such multitasking beings.

The company claims that this is a “Luminocaptide Complex”, which instantly illuminates your skin by erasing fine lines, refreshing tired looking skin & banishing fatigue. They claim that this is an 8 hour sleep in the click of a pen.

What is the most important thing to remember is that, this isn’t an under eye concealer. This is used for highlighting & enhancing your features. Erasing fine lines et al. The coverage isn’t heavy & is certainly not gonna work against those heavily dark under eye circles.

I, got the shade no.2 called “Luminious Ivory”, which works quite well for my skin tone. My skin tone has a pink & yellow undertone to it. So, this colour worked the best.

The bristles are just so fine and don’t stab or hurt at all. The pen works on a click mechanism. Which means you’re clicking the pen away to get the product out. I reckon, you must click atleast 20 times or so to get any bit of that elixir out. Which is a super thing for me, as I have a very nosey toddler. 😒😒😒 So, he oughta click it a lot for any result.. And till then, I’m shouting my red lungs out for the pen. 😠😠😡

To avoid all the disappointment that would come across, due to the improper usage. I’m gonna give you a pictorial description of highlighting & concealing. You can decide what you would like to on that particular day.

How to highlight?

After you’ve done your basic primer, foundation, compact routine. You need to highlight these areas shaded in yellow.

Those areas are:

  • Middle of the forehead & the temples.
  • The gap between the brows.
  • The bridge of your nose.
  • Just above the hollows of your cheekbones.
  • The inner corner of your eyes.
  • Atop your brows & on the brow bone( if you plan on the natural look, sans eyeshadow)
  • Over your undereye concealer.
  • On the cupids bow & beneath your lower lip.
  • On the chin.
  • In the hollow of your neck.

That must take care of your highlighting.

How to conceal?

I don’t recommend buying this just for the sole purpose of a concealer. It should be used over a concealer or maybe used as a light to medium coverage concealer for those no makeup days.

Here’s how you can conceal, areas shaded in yellow.

The areas are:

  • Your undereyes & the cheeks. Do downward swipes & this may well be a great way to go the no makeup way.
  • The eyelids sans the eyeshadow or as an eyeshadow base, which conceals fine lines.
  • The crows feet.
  • And you can also erase any fine smile or frown lines too.
  • It must be used even on the corners of your nose.

Now after this information, it’s really up to you to gauge the necessity of this product. It’s priced at a hefty £25 for 2.5ml and in that price you certainly will get some great cheaper alternatives, both in India & abroad.

Do I like this?? Well, I’ve done 3 restocks and it runs almost forever. The lightness of this product works both as an advantage & disadvantage depending upon what techniques you’re applying.

You are the best judge on how to extract the full potential of this product. As for me, YSL has me in its grip. I’ve gone on shopping hauls and shopped for everything except the touché éclat and then felt a sense of great guilt, when the other products didn’t work out that well for me.

It’s been a love-hate affair from the past 4 years and well, I will say that I love it. Period.

Japanese Sencha Green Tea-By Mlesna.. Review.

I‘m not gonna lie, but I’ve always been pretty much in a neutral zone when it comes to Tea. While, the whole of India rocks in the passion throes of Tea, I’ve always remained numb. Thinking what could it be that makes people go crazy with this drink.

Maybe this has to do with my upbringing in the Middle East, where I was more in tune with packs of Suntop and Orangina. It wasn’t until I became a proud mum, that I even thought about tea. From then, the love has just surpassed my expectations. My drink anyday & everyday is ” Green Tea”. I just love it. I prefer milk & sugarless teas, so apparently, I love black teas too. But let’s not digress. Let me talk about Green Tea to you.

I am a huge & ginormous fan of green tea. * awwh, look at my claque clapping away to glory*

My favourite, hands down is the “Japanese Sencha”. The Sencha is a delicately flavoured tea, made using special techniques. The plaudits bestowed on the Japanese Sencha are nothing but the truth. The beauty of this tea is the pristine clarity obtained while drinking this.

In my venture to find good Japanese Sencha, I looked no further. I found it in Mlesna. They are a SriLankan brand and every tea they produce, is par excellence. As far as I know, this brand is quite hard to find here in Bangalore.

The only place I do procure this from is 1MG ROAD MALL. The assortment of Mlesna teas are found in the Food Court. Thankfully, they stock a nice decent collection of various teas.

Here’s a brief description of the tea:

  • They claim this to be a fine quality Sencha tea, processed in the perfect Japanese way.
  • The delicate buds are harvested by expert tea pluckers.

What I love about this pack of green tea?

Firstly, the packaging is super awesome with beautiful drawings. They are so good, I could have these drawings even framed.

Secondly, the foil packaging is just great. Wish it was a ziplock one, to retain freshness.

Thirdly, It’s priced at Rs.200/- for 50 teabags. So, that’s amazing value for money.

And lastly, The taste is just amazing. Nice & subtle.

Well, with all these awesome things packed into one, I couldn’t stop myself from a repurchase.

The most budget friendly, delicious & spot on pack of green tea you will ever purchase.

You can find this online at  Amazon
