Kama Ayurveda x Tanya Fontes Dhar |Beauty Masterclass | Bangalore |

” Beauty is when you can appreciate yourself. When you love yourself, that is when you’re most beautiful”- Zoe Kravitz

In a world of “Prima donna’s & Primo uomo’s”, everyone wants to always be at their fluttery best. Vanity rates high & in the pursuit of being the best, we tend to take shortcuts or fall prey to trends that rise & fall as the tides on a full moon night.

It is during these episodes, do you need to realise that it’s our roots & traditions that haven’t changed in centuries. Maybe because, those traditions are timeless and maybe because they do not need an upgrade.

About Kama Ayurveda:

Kama Ayurveda was started in 2002 in India, to promote the message of authentic Ayurveda, universally. Since then, creating pure Ayurvedic products according to authentic prescriptions has been the unique purpose of the brand.

It has received recognition in various global and Indian publications including US Vogue, French Vogue, Japan Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and Tatler among others.

The brand has been synonymous with reawakening the tranquility of Ayurveda with its offerings and reintroducing Indian aesthetics to the world.

About Tanya Fontes Dhar :

Tanya Dhar is the face behind the luxury lifestyle blog “Urban Diaries”. The blog covers various topics from beauty & lifestyle to celebrity interviews & technology.

She is always a very graceful presence in the blogging community with so much knowledge to impart to her camaraderies. Refined and humble, is how you will find this lady.

About my Kama Ayurveda Masterclass Experience:

I, was invited over by the elegant “Tanya Dhar” , to experience a Beauty Masterclass session, curated by her and the expert panel of Kama Ayurveda.

The slow teasing whiff of turmeric, rose water and saffron was prevalent all across. The warmth of those whiffs had me, smiling ear to ear.

The class started with a one on one consultation with Dr. Sharad Kulkarni, whereby he delved into your skin woes and suggested what essential steps are necessary for the overall well-being of your facial epidermis.

He then went ahead, to give us a brief walkthrough of the essence of Ayurveda and why it is an immaculate option for a life of holistic living.

Whilst the doctor explained, the station was getting prepped, so that we could indulge in some DIY scrub making. Not surprisingly, the scrub proved to be a hit with the ladies.

Here’s the secret recipe for a scrub that guarantees smooth skin:

Ingredients:

  • Oats – 2 Tbsp
  • Honey – 2 Tbsp
  • Pure Rose water – 2 Tbsp
  • Kama Ayurveda Mridul – 2 Tbsp
  • Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
  • Sweet Almond Oil- 3 drops
  • Lemon Juice – 5 drops
  • Rose Petals – 2

Directions : Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Apply on damp skin & exfoliate gently for 3-4 minutes. Rinse off with water & pat dry.

The Masterclass ended with a photo shoot with all the ladies.

And while we bid our adieus, Kama Ayurveda & Tanya, spoiled us with some goodies from “Kama Ayurveda” & the let us have a mason jar of the DIY scrub as well. Pretty us, after all!

Pabulum | Food Fest |IIHM | Bangalore |

“Talent can’t be taught, but it can be awakened”- Wallace Stegner

And, this is what the mentors, at I.I.H.M- Bangalore, believe in. They awaken the innate talents that, these students have stored within them. They sculpt and fashion them into perfect individuals, ready to take on the world. This morphing happens at all levels of their course. It was a pleasure to see, how well their mentors have done their job.

About Pabulum :

While “Pabulum”, literally means Food in the form of nourishment & intellect, we were treated to more than just food at this fest.

Pabulum, is a food festival hosted by “International Institute of Hotel Management, Bangalore”, which encompasses the true essence of what these students are taught. This is a time when the students are allowed to take control over everything, under the keen eye & guidance of their mentors. They are assessed and asked to face the challenges that are involved whilst coordinating a fest. Ergo, their motto for the fest was, “Learning through Food Fests”.

Experience at Pabulum :

Pabulum, was a masquerade ball party which was held on the 15 December 2017. The fest was solely organised by the students themselves, from invitations to the props and decorations, every aspect of the fest was segregated to a team of students who were handling it, example the cultural team, the prop team, etc. The invites were personally delivered by the students as well. Therefore, making this a very personal fest.

The fest started with gigs done by the students. They had us singing to their tunes and tapping our feet to their dance moves as well. We were then escorted to the dinner buffet, the star of the evening.

The students had, with an exquisite segregated the cuisines into 6 stalls, namely “Greenland”, “Sicily”, “Madagascar”, “Thousand Islands”, “Lankan” & “Oceanic”. They had a dessert counter as well.

What caught my fancy was this beautiful edible sculpture kept near the “Greenland” stall made out of bread which depicted the few elements of Greenland, like the Whale’s tail.

My favourites were, “Pumpkin Soup, Pasta Salad, Eggplant Parmigiana, Vegetable Lasagna & Philadelphia Cheesecake”

Address Home Bangalore | New Store Launch |

If you buy stuff you love, regardless of era or price, your home will be a true reflection of you- Sarah Norwood

I, was invited over for the official launch of a home decor store in “Lavelle Road”, to experience the story behind it.

As a person, who has taste for finer things in life, i love exploring and unearthing artifacts to adorn my living. And as pompous as that may sound, what I mean by that is it could be just about anything that gives you an impression about me. It could be something as simple as a card holder to something as rare as an antique. It all depends on what calls out to you, what resonates with your personality and what makes you feel happy.

About Address Home :

Launched in February 2008, Address Home is a stylish, sophisticated and eclectic option for all those connoisseurs who appreciate all things elegant.

It was found by Mr. Rajat Singhi, who comes from a family who are supposed to be India’s first home furnishing company. He has designed & manufactured linens for “Crate & Barrel, Neiman Marcus, Harrods, etc”. Therefore, you can understand the kind of quality that you will be pampered with.

My Experience at Address Home :

We were greeted warmly by the staff, who took us around the store, explaining each and every section. Turning our cogs by immersing us in the activities lined up for the evening.

We were told to renovate a part of the store as per our choice. Making sure that our personalities are reflected in it. Some bloggers took the bed section, some took the dining and some took the living area. All of us, were given complete access to the store and told to pick up anything that suits our personality.

The experience was fun and we were pleasantly surprised to see how beautifully each area was done.

My recommendations at the store :

  • Antalya Gold and Teal Plates : These beauties are 24k Gold plated and that rich colour that you see, is the continuous effort of firing it up.

  • Crockery from another collection : These are Platinum plated, the collection as unique as your taste.

  • Signature Jaguar Centrepiece: A power symbol, the centrepiece and yes, extremely beautiful.

  • The Bed Linen : The bed linen & cushions, are one of their speciality, with textures of all kinds available. The quilted ones or the Ottoman ones, the beaded ones or the embroidered ones, you choose what you like.

  • Agave Napkin Rings: These rings are so gorgeous, that I couldn’t stop myself from wearing it on, like a statement ring. Super loved them, already on my list.

_____________________________

Verdict : This place is your one stop shop for all things beautiful, without digging a big hole in your pocket. The collection is exquisite and truly unique. I, would definitely pick up a few things from here. This is a haven, to spoil myself in luxury and to make your dream home a reality.

Life is real, not ideal “- Heather Muzik

While, we live in a fast paced life filled with too many frivolous things to keep a tab on, we seldom forget what we really must be concentrating on. Food, isn’t just an element to calm your hunger. It’s an element to nourish your body. Quite a lot of us, very easily lend a deaf ear when it’s about healthy eating. Me included.

Skola Toys| Bloggers Meet | Vivanta by Taj | Bangalore |

“Play is the highest form of research”- Albert Einstein

Standing by that very protocol, “Skola Toys” has integrated learning through playing in their toys. I was, privileged to be a part of the bloggers meet, that was held in “Vivanta by Taj” for all of us to understand the depth of thinking that was incorporated in the toys.

About Skola Toys :

Skola Toys is India’s first range of toys designed with learning at its core. Made for children between 2 years & 7 years, Skola Toys’ design principles have been scientifically backed by child psychologists, child experts & educationists including Montessori teachers. Founded by Mridula Shridhar, VK Manikandan & Nitish Agrawal, Skola Toys was set up to fill the void that existed in the Early Learning & Learning Toy category for intelligently designed toys. Skola Toys help children pick up crucial skills in areas like Gross Motor, Fine Motor, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, Social Science, Science, Cognition & Creativity.

What Material are the Skola Toys Made Up Of?

Skola Toys, are pure wooden toys which encourage children to play more. Children very easily differentiate between low quality & high quality material. They are also very attuned to accepting natural materials, like Jute, Wood, Stone, Clay, etc. Therefore, Skola Toys are natural and much appreciated by kids.

About Skola Toys Bloggers Meet :

We were seated in our respective places, with anticipation of what innovative strategies would be unfolding for us as parents to experience. The Meet had Parent Bloggers, Toy shop owners & School teachers congregate for the interactive session.

The topic of discussion was ” Touch vs. Touch & Feel” As we all know, technology has us in the deep throes of its clutches. We are in one way or the other reliant on it, for our lives to function. In this reliance, we also expose our young ones to it, thereby creating a generation of “techno geeks” and take for granted the cognitive functions of seeing, feeling & deciding for granted.

So, we were given little tasks, which had us engaged for sometime. Something as simple as “feeling the alphabets blindfolded and deciding which one it was”, “putting up a puzzle”, etc and boy! was it fun. The exercises that we did were a way, for us to realise how much more fun a physical activity is as compared to a “tap tap tap” activity.

Verdict : All in all, a very informative meet, by which it’s clear to me that, children don’t only need technology to help them grow and bloom their innate skills, but also the need of smart toys which help their skill set.
